Talking about current Fake news and other craziest dreams…

The real problem is not that pseudoscience uses disinformation as a salvation plank for its economy and for good people with innocent -but ignorant- minds and hearts, it provides hope, joy etc. But it employs scientific knowledge for wrong purposes and it confuses terms confusing many who are searching for answers and who do not understand physics terms or do not have the right approach to them.

A human being cannot behave like a particle -even if it is composed of millions of them- and a particle cannot behave like a human being. Remembering Richard Feynman “If you think you understand quantum mechanics, then you don’t really understand it” – I am not afraid to mention that I don’t understand quantum physics yet I love the simple fact of breaking all paradigms and all realism just by fantasizing in the scientific approach.

You have the right to dream about whatever you want, but it could be dangerous to believe things just because you want to believe they are true. You could be decived if you do not question yourself and others, especially people in positions of authority. Everything that is truly real can stand up after scrutiny.

I remember once when I met a cult where they proposed that black holes existed because the human being with his behavior (or bad vibes) was so powerful and due to the butterfly effect could cause it. They simply did not understand that a black hole was a region in spacetime where gravity prevents anything, including light, from escaping. The general theory of relativity predicts that a sufficiently compact mass could warp spacetime into a black hole, not as an anthropocentric fabrication.

Incredibly people are reluctant to question, to judge, to investigate. I once heard a phrase that marked my thinking: “If you don’t ask, you have no right to know” and this most of the time is because of the increasingly alien and complex terms that sciences and knowledge in general is taking in the course of our historical becoming. Previously to be a polymath as were Imhotep, Aristotle, Zhuge Liang, Avicenna, Al-Farabi, Shen Kuo, Ramon Llull, Leonardo da Vinci, Jerónimo de Ayanz y Beaumont, Nicolás Copérnico, René Descartes, Isaac Newton, Atanasio Kircher, Gottfried Gottfried Gottfried Gottfried Gottfried Gottfried Gottfried Gottfried Gottfried Gottfried Gottfried Gottfried Gottfried Gottfried, Athanasius Kircher, Gottfried Leibniz, Posidonius, John Caramuel, Benjamin Franklin, Immanuel Kant, Ibn Khaldun, Emanuel Swedenborg, Thomas Jefferson, Al Kindi, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Alexander von Humboldt, Charles Sanders Peirce, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Henri Poincaré, John von Neumann, Isaac Asimov, Sándor Kőrösi Csoma, Carl Sagan, Mikhail Lomonosov, Arturo Uslar Pietri, Ernesto de la Peña, Jacque Fresco, among others, The knowledge was relatively simple (without taking into account that the power reserves had kidnapped the knowledge) because the arts, sciences, trades, techniques were few and there was not such a strong syncretism as the one we live in today. The excess of information together with the lack of time and knowledge make us believe in any gibberish that promises to save us or help us.

In the past we were frightened by natural phenomena and believed them to be originated by anthropomorphic or zoomorphic divinities that acted in revenge or in gratitude for our actions as simple humans, we gave them our traits and wanted to believe them so. Later we believed in witches and shamans, now in a more advanced and “scientified” era we believe in UFOs (witches flew on broomsticks, why not in updating their transports?), in “scientists” like Brian Weiss or Deepak Chopra (shamans left their totems, now they are microphones).

Googling the word seer brings up about 2,580,000 results. Most of them, at least the first pages, are advertisements about divination and about 167,000 results about quantum healing as of today. I wish that one day science would become this popular and that we are not so few the popularizers of culture and science who are willing to explain to people what is and what is not reality.
